Steve, you know you have all of our prayers. I'll be optimistic and tell you all will work out. I really pray that this does. When we have nowhere else to turn, there is only one being we can turn to.

Again, this Christmas my thoughts are with you and your family.

Bill

4.5hr operation done. So far so good. Many in ICU with Aneurysms and common factor is smoking. Will be in for two weeks all going well. Her life as she knows it has now changed. Tks for your support it's been a trying 27 hours. We didn't get round to buying food so it will be an interesting few days

Sprintman,

Sorry to hear that about your wife, we will pray that she recovers ASAP and visits India with you.

Hope so. Two others who went to ICU in the last 10 days one (male) didn't make it and the other female 35 yrs old 3 daughters is still in induced coma after 10 days as her husband and inlaws told me while we waited in the ICE waiting room together. Seems there are many of these type injuries constantly flowing through emergency and if lucky ICU later. All three smokers. Personally I never could get my head around putting dead weeds in your mouth and setting fire to it.

OMG, just read the thread. Think positive and hopefully things will get better. Wow, I'm hoping for the best.

Went today and the hospital staff basically indicated she is "the miracle". You smoke you don't survive this and my wife was amazing compared to yesterday. That Russian/australian stelly eye glare loked me in the eye and said she wil be a very changed person if and when she gets out. Highly intelligent but stupid like most of us. The most interesting part is talking to the people in the ICU waiting room, and that's all you seem to do, wait until someone deigns to answer the intercom and maybe let you in. There's absolutely no ** and you just talk with an honesty and clarity that is weird. The doctors don't stuff about either and let you have it like it is (a very Aussie trait by the way). When you can get your hands on one to tell you what's going on, but then it is Xmas and not full staffing. I have a totally new respect for these shift workers (I did shift work for 8 yrs) and also thought the registrar Neurosurgeon was the cleaner or at best a male nurse when he first walked by with rings nd asorted paraphernalia hanging form eyelids and G0d knows where else. Another perfect reason why you should never read a book by it's cover. The support staff have almost deified him and I can see why. I actually seem to have more clarity of mind myself and finding it easier to write a lucid story (some story). A few lessons, if you have constant headaches see a medical specialist ASAP. My mother didn't and guess what, died of a Cerebral Haematoma. If you have half a brain don't smoke. My wife has the biggest black eye on the LHS you will ever see, totally closed, scarily so and more probes connected and unconnected along with the bruises to match. If we, and I mean we get through this our life has changed forever. Bye for now.....stevo

Sounds like things are getting better. A life-changing experience is sure better than a life-ending one. You and you wife will have many happy years together after this is done. *** bless you both.

Steve,

I just saw this thread this morning. I know that many of us are personally saddened at what has happened to your family (yes, as you well know, all of you are affected). Although there could never have been a good time for this, coming when it did creates its own set of difficulties.

I see what appears to be genuine concern on the part of responders to your wife's plight. I would find that comforting. Isn't this a good group of friends that becomes like extended family?

The Almighty works miracles for us at times. He doesn't always intervene, but perhaps in this case we can see evidence that He has in your wife's recovery. I do pray for that and it's obvious others are doing the same.

I hope and pray that the coming year will be one of healing and recovery. Each family member needs the strength that such will bring.

Please keep us updated.

She is in good hands and she will be home soon munching on that turkey you will cook when she gets out.

Glad to hear how this is turning out. Sounds like there are some changes in store for you guys...it is good to be given a second chance, no? Coming from one who is on the second chance, don't waste it!
