guys my wife rang me at wotk during our work Xmas party but couldn't talk. She had collapsed in the kitchen found by my 6yr old daughter. I rushed home and got her to Calvary Hospital our local hospital. CT scan showed Cerebral Haematoma (excuse my spelling). Had been complaning of bad headache and yesterday had Physiotherapy, supposed C4 C5 compacted vertebrae Calvary transferred her to Canberra Hospital by ambulance as they have Neurosurgeon etc there. I just got home as they are waiting for Radiographer to arrive for Cerebral Angiogram. Nerosurgeon will then decide on plan of action possible operation. Mother-in-Law coming over to stay the night. I'm not a religious man but think of us at this trying time

Neurosurgeon rang me said Cerebral Angiogram would be done at 9:30pm, result by 11:00pm would I like to come in? I said no I'll be in first thing in the morning. My beautiful daughter is so distressed. If there really was a *** this wouldn't happen. I'm losing it as wife is only 45. Stiil you smoke and drink like my wife and it's going to catch up with you. Even though she can cook the *** of anybody on the planet she's to red meat centric. Smokes, grog, red meat, sodium etc are off the menu if she gets to come home. Sorry have to go.....s

Sorry to hear this buddy. I wish the best to your whole family. Try and smile for her and your daughter.

There's never a good time for something like this, but so near to Xmas must feel like an extra blow.

For what's it's worth, I had a bad disk between C5 and C6. It was removed and both C's fused with bone taken from my hip.

It's amazing what modern medical technology can do, and your wife will be expertly taken care of and achieve the best outcome. Keep on top of the doctors and nurses. I'm sure they will do their best, and a little encouragement from you will keep them vigilant.

Our thoughts are with you.

I wish your wife and your family all the best...keep good friends and relatives close to you...talk to them, people who give you courage and hope...
as aleady stated, medicine is very advanced these days...believe it'll be ok, and hope. I believe such thoughts have a big positive impact sometimes...
We'll think of you.

Got the phone call at 11:30pm from the Neurosurgeon. Get to the hospital now! Caught a taxi. Wife had to sign away her life. Having a 4 hour operation at 7:00m tomorrow. Shave head peel scalp back well you know the rest. My unbelievable 6.5 yr old daughter is a real digger, didn't shed a tear at the bedside just total support. Yes she's a real Aussie the best on the planet. No wonder when America want's help we are always the first they call on !

chiming in to add another post of support.

Brave daughter! and as far as I know, Australia is full of the same kind of people as the good kind of Texan. Or Oklahoman. Relaxed, sturdy, fearless, just, and a little wild.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Sprint. Take comfort in the strength of your daughter, as hard as that may be. I hope your wife gets better.

Steve,
Your family are in our thoughts.

We've been preparing for this Christmas for months, can't imagine what it would be like to have this thrust upon you.

Having seen the best and the worst in medical care in this country, I think you are lucky that you are in the ACT.

Calvary totaly lost the plot. They hooked up the sensors incorrectly. You kno Red goes on red, blue on blue, White to White but no they got that wrong. ACT ambulance man and female assistant said "not surprised we could tell you some thngs". Canberra Hospital was exactly the opposite. Anyway we go back at noon after operation to see what's happened. I just threw the fresh organic turkey in the freezer as we won't be cooking it of course. I'll try and take the three of us out for Xmas lunch tomorrow, gotta eat. Thanks for all your thoughts BITOG people are the best!

Steve,
Calvary...hmmm, my family won't go there after a few shockers. I thought of Canberra hospital first up.

Hope all went well this morning.

(Won't be going to the local private hospital here, either after the last few months of ineptitude with M.I.L.)

Just read this. My friend your family is in our prayers as I type this. Let the doctors take care of your wife, you take care of your woundeful daughter.

My prayers are with you Sprintman. When your wife pulls through this, it will be the best gift that you and your little girl will ever get. Good luck!
