Non-slip shower stickers that last a long time?

Has anyone had any luck with non-slip stickers for the shower/tub that are a bit raised, and that don’t peel off after a year?

I have gotten a good 10+ years out of flat strips in the shower (say, 12x1 inch?), but I’m 60 years old, and would appreciate something that is a tad bit higher off the floor of the tub—to keep me from slipping. Years ago, I found some animal stickers (had two young’uns then) that were raised a bit. They started peeling after a year or so.

They're probably designed to be disposable. They're constantly rubbed on, submerged in water with soap. If they made them so sticky that they lasted longer, they'd probably be non-removable.

I wish we got a year out of ours. We had to redo the bathroom for Mom, and one of the fixes was a walk-in shower. The shower pan has a rough texture and we supplemented that with stickers. I was assuming that the rough texture was the reason they peeled off quickly, but it sounds like there's more to it.

If your shower is fiberglass, you could have a fiberglass guy come in and put down a gel coat on the floor and add sand/grit to it. That would be a permanent solution.

OK, but the plain flat strips I've put down have lasted year after year. It took some elbow grease & alcohol to get the last bits of glue off when I peeled them off. So I know it is possible to make stickers that don't peel after a year; I'm just looking for any that are raised a bit off the ground.

Perhaps Paco's suggestion of a rubber mat is good. It sure would be quicker for me to go that route. :)

Older female relative had same issue and got tired of having to replace them. She wound up using a pair of flip flops in the shower that were non slip.

Good suggestion. The one's I've looked at just now, cost no more than a set of stickers. And quite a bit easier to install too. :)
I used to use the adhesive strips but they seamed to fail fairly quickly. The rubber mats last a long time and provide a much larger non slip surface. Bought one for the aging parents and started doing the same at home.

We haven't had strips in our tubs since our kids were younger. We do have a rubber mat in our master bathroom but my wife keeps it stuck to the wall instead of on the floor.... 🤷‍♂️

I bought 2 shower mats for 2 bathrooms several years ago. They have held up well and give you a secure feeling with no ‘ slippage ‘. We hang them on the towel holder in the shower and they’re always dry for the next shower. IIRC about $20 each.

That's the critical part of using matts...simply allowing them to dry by hanging them up. To many people (including my MIL and SIL) leave them in the tub or shower and all kinds of gross stuff collects under them. A good matt can be a great safety devise but needs to be cared for.

This is why that relative I referred to did not want a mat. Even those mats that have “nubs” to allow better water flow underneath still collect gross scum so if you decide to go that way, be prepared to clean out the soap scum, hair etc. on a regular basis.
