I have many 1970's chain saws and smsll engines that are geting destroyed by ethanol in the fuel. I have a hard time finding non ethanol out of a pump. Do any of the Ethanol treatments work?

I use Stabil Marine in my boat and jet ski because non-ethanol is hard to find. It seems to work.

Lucky enough to be able to buy pure gas where I live-at a high price-but worth it.

If you don't use a lot of fuel just get TrueFuel from Walmart or any of the other fuels in a can like at Tractor supply and such. Our Ace Hardware carries True Fuel in a 5 gallon can for $90.

Also if you are near any lakes, check your local marinas. But I started using Sta-Bil 360 Marine formula for my Lawn Boys, chainsaw, and trimmer.

Matt

Every fall my local Home Depot, Walmart, and Tractor Supply mark down the True Fuel to about half price. The stuff keeps for years when left in the sealed container, maybe you could stock up then? Just buy enough for now at current prices and wait for the sale.

Why not premix? Its E0. Does not cost much unless your really going through gas. Roughly $5 QT.

Up here at the pump its all E10. I keep fuel in a No-Spill [brand] can that's pretty much air-tight. I only dose with Marine Stabil for winter/long-term storage... never an issue with any equipment.

As 28oz suggested, using pure-gas.org, it looks like a couple of options for good gas just 12-15 miles away from you. A few jugs with some Stabil and you'd be set for a while...

Thank you, that is great. There's a walmart near my condo that is putting in an Ethanol Free pump but it's not operational yet. Thanks to this link, I see that there is one near where they're building my new house that already has the E0 online. Great, great, great!

I make my own pure gas. Take hi-octane fuel, add 20% to 30% water, shake well, let it settle, then decant. The water/alcohol is at the bottom. The end result is pure gas that costs only 10% more than premium gas, not $5 per quart.

That's what I do. Tru-fuel at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. I use a quart or so a year...and the shelf life is quite good. No ethanol.

No worries...

I started making my own. I take 93 octane and add about 16 oz of water. Get a gas can with a drain at the bottom. Shake it up and let it sit for a few hours. Water and gas doesn’t mix but water and ethanol does. The ethanol and water sits at the bottom of the can. Drain the water out. I add octane booster since the octane rating drops about 3 points. Both my Honda mower and Sthil trimmer seem to run better. Search YouTube.

Hopefully not an alcohol octane booster after all that.
