GM Holden has decided to drop the Monaro from its product line. There will be one last build as a special run-out in a gold colour going on sale next month. Then no more.

Apparently due to the development of the next commodore, on which the Monaro is based, they are not able to produce both cars at once. (Obviously they are not women).

Where this puts the GTO, I don't know.

The is speculation that a 2 door coupe will again be built, but when, we will have to wait.

The Monaro and its derivatives (GTO, Vauxhall etc) sold almost 6 times as many cars as expected, so it was not due to poor demand.

Bummer. I sure like my Monaro (GTO).

GM should bring more of the Holden's into the States.

Nah, they had some holden executive on the radio as I drove home last night.

They will still produce the export car, as "it proves Holden to be truly a world manufacturer".

They said that they will have sold 58,000 in Oz.
