No Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w20?

Mobil doesn't feel that there are enough "out of warranty 5w20 oil cars" to justify marketing a specific Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w20. Mobil states on their website to follow the manufacturers oci until the warranty period is over.Honda just started recommending 5w20 oil in 2001. 5 years times 13000 miles per year= 65000 miles (end of warranty). I would guess that we'll start seeing Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w20 next year.

Why Mobil doesn't produce Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-20 is strange... considering more & more manufacturers are mandating it in new vehicle manuals.
Ignoring a money-trail trend with consumers for a company that size is really wierd.
Yes.... you can mix your 4 quarts with anything you please. I try to stay with the same oil company when I mix. I have read good reports about mixing Red Line with Mobil 1 also.
Now finding Red Line can be difficult. Such a great oil & nobody sells it.... now that's a real mind boggler also. You may need to do a neighborhood search for truck parts & supplies to find it.

I got to wonder if a 5w20 EP would go 15K myself. Given Mobil tendency to thin out to the next lower grade on long OCI you could end up running a 10wt oil. Besides the 5w30 & 10w30 are not that far from a 20 wt to start with. The newer formula Xw 30s seems to be a touch thicker. I would go with the 5w30 EP myself if you needed a 5w20.

Mobil 1 never thinks out. It will thicken like any other oil over a long drain, but it won't thin. Mobil 1 0w-20 was run a few times on here for 10k miles. Held up very well but became a 30wt oil. People using 5w-20's are under warranty most likely and that is a reason why.

I ran 5-30 Mobil 1 for 10,000 miles, it was because of an oversight on my part but it seemed to be fine, did it thicken don't know. My Dealer changes the oil & filter they didn't notice anything. 200,000 miles later I will see if it hurt anything. This truck has to go that long.
