We had a nice session of warm weather along the BC, Idaho border area and I noticed quite a few bug hits on the windshield and plastic deflector. Cleaned the windshield up with Gunk foaming glass cleaner and an abrasive pad and gave the windshield a RainX treatment.

It's starting to freeze some nights and this week we'll hit a max temp of 50 F. I'm thinking that should be it for bugs. No more frigging bugs to smear your windshield for the next 6 months! Bwaaahahaha.

The one thing I like about the weather turning colder. I've spent more money at the carwash over the years getting those 'epoxy glue' like bug guts off my cars...

Takes a hard freeze to kill off mosquitoes. If they find a warm spot they can last into December. January thaw will hatch more.

"warm spot" in December and "January thaw" eh? The January thaw must be that time when Christmas has passed and the "fun and festive" part of winter is over, but it keeps getting colder with each passing day.

I remember a late spring evening run on the highway - I had hit so many bugs, the flies were eating the bugs on my car once I parked.

This is REALLY what we need here,a good hard freeze to get rid of the bugs. The mosquitoes here are still horrible!

I usually drive 1,000km (600 miles) per week for work and I'm forever pressure washing the car multiple times per week to remove the bug splatter. I welcome the change of the season. My water bill usually drops considerably.

We had an unusually cold winter here last year, it was hovering around 0F perhaps a bit below for a couple weeks. More days below 32F than above it for at least a month or two. I remember thinking surely this will put a dent in the bug population the following spring and summer, but I was dead wrong. The bugs especially mosquitoes were horrendous this year, and the weather was pretty average for a KY summer.
