I have a 2008 Nissan Rogue that uses an air filter equal to a Purolator A24675. The Purolator says it is made by a third party in Korea. This filter has a metal frame and looks really old school. I have searched every filter manufacturer I can think of and they all look like they are sourced from the same 3rd party supplier, regardless of brand. The only applications I know of for this filter are the Rogue, the 300 ZX (90-96) and the 2.5 Sentra. Does anyone have experience with the Nissan OEM filters vs. the aftermarket in quality of construction/performance? I haven't wanted to disturb the factory filter just yet, so I'm not sure what the OEM filter looks like. The quality of the aftermarket products seems questionable to me. Maybe they are fine and I'm just being picky, but they don't appear to be state of the art by any stretch.

Thanks in advance,

If the factory filter is anything like the aftermarket the foam rubber seal is quite fragile and I don't want to remove it until I replace it, if possible. The images of the Frams I've seen look identical to the Purolator I have.

I've never seen a "fragile" seal on an OEM filter honestly. I'd check the availability of a Synwash filter or a ProDry filter for your eventual replacement.

I've been looking for something along those lines-since there are only 3 vehicles I know of that use this filter, the aftermarket support is pretty thin. Thanks for the repies,

We have a Sentra SER with the 2.5L engine and I did some research on air filters and found some cross reference part numbers.
Fram P/N CA6900
Wix P/N 46044
K&N P/N 33-2036
In fact I just received the K&N filter I ordered from AJUSA and will see if it will fit. The Sentra has a weird air box that sits vertical in the engine compartment. The OEM filter has a plastic frame that is held in place by the removeable top of the filter. I may try to see if the filter fits today since we are getting dumped on again with 6 to 8" of snow. Will let you know how it goes.

Update on the K&N filter, just put it in the Sentra and the K&N P/N 33-2036 fits like a glove. The plastic frame is a holder for the paper element so all you have to do is pop the filter out of the frame and put the new one in. The OEM number on the filter I took out is 16546 30P00. So I would guess any of the above filters would fit. I will see how the K&N does in the Sentra and take it from there. BTW, we have 8 to 9" of snow on the ground right now with another 3 to 5" possible! Welcome to spring in Wisconsin!!

Green Piston,

Thanks for the info! The Nissan filter number you posted crosses to the same filters I found. The way you describe the airbox on your Sentra sounds just like the one on my Rogue-it looks like the filter slides out throught the top of the box in a frame held down by tabs on either side. Haven't had mine apart yet.

Does the airbox design look like it's easy to do filter swaps and get a good seal? How was the construction quality of the OEM filter?

I've pretty much decided to order an AFE Pro Dry S filter for when I change out my factory filter.

Thanks again for posting,

Filter swaps are easy as long as the new filter will fit in the plastic frame that holds the filter in the air box. It appears that sealing will be fine, I made sure to check that before I put it back together. Taking the top of the air box off is a snap. Just pinch the tabs on the sides of the top cover and it will pop right off. I took ours off the same day we got the car home (had to see about the first modification to the car).

OEM filter quality looked good. I will keep it and reuse it if I don't like the K&N filter or when I need to wash the K&N.
