Nissan Profitable Again

They have more "going on" right now. The Rogue is the number three best seller in it's class, the new Frontier, "Z", and Pathfinder. The Altima is a solid choice in the sedan segment.

Dark spot seems to be the Titan-can't sell them even when trucks are hot. They are on death watch.

Titans are overpriced and the gas mileage stinks. I really like the Pathfinder and it can get some great hwy mpg's.

No town criers telling us Nissans are junk yet?
I declare on this 15th day of May in the 2022’nd year of our lord, that Nissans are junk! Their CVT’s are abominations and their 90’s tech is an affront to my senses!

sorry, I couldn’t resist replying to the town crier remark, it cracked me up. I really have nothing against Nissan. Cheers. 😉🍻

I'll take any financial report of any car company from the past 2 years with a grain of salt with what it means long term, it's not normal when people will pay full sticker price plus markup, sooner or later the car companies will be back at capacity actually having to compete with one another and offering incentives.

I liked my 2013 Altima and 2016 Rouge a lot. Nissan cars are currently affordable and have better quality than GM cars, in my opinion. Ford is close in quality to Nissan. Chrysler\Dodge isn’t there at all.

Our Rouge is still in the family. Other than a water pump, I’ve done nothing in 130,000 miles but drive it and change fluids and brakes. I can’t say that for my Town and Country or New Beetle.

I'm going to have to assume they've done something about their quality issues, and if so, good for them My '02 Altima 3.5 was second only to my '85 olds Calais in poor reliability. One of its many stays in the service department lasted 17 days, so I finally traded it off while it was still on the lift, and swore off Nissan. Any more recent interest I've had in them has been curbed by the CVT-intensive nature of their lineup. Good to see they may be turning it around

Please note everyone this was TWENTY YEARS AGO!!

Not a Nissan guy but I must admit I've noticed they've got some sharp looking vehicles now, a properly optioned Altima is downright good looking, enough so I wonder how they sell Maximas anymore I can't tell the difference.

My wife had an 84 Sentra when we got married I hated that thing got rid of it in a few months by which time it had already managed to strand me.

Hah! 38 years! 😛

The Maxima has a more upmarket interior (thicker leather etc) and of course still offers that sweet VQ35de as standard.

It's not a stand out in the look's department-so nobody is buying it. KIA has much better looking sedans-IMHO.

Having lost a well maintained 03 Altima 2.5L engine (thus vehicle) prematurely to a known by Nissan fatal flaw, pre cat failure, I've got no love for Nissan.

That said, I have no problem with them reporting profitability now, especially if it proves fugitive criminal and former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn to be wrong in his propaganda regarding Nissan failing now. 'In my observation and experience', it was under Ghosn that Nissan quality and reliability took a major turn for the worse, 02-03 Altima one example.

As for how long is been since the noted failure, when it's ones money and investment involved, not easy to be so cavalier about its loss. My .02

It seems to be the American versions that have issues. Our Juke with a manual trans has been great. I think it’s a Spanish (Renault) and Mexican hybrid. In Mexico the less luxurious manual Nissans seem to run for ever.
