nissan matic j

hi all i'm trying to get info about an equivilant atf to nissan matic j. i've got info on transmax j from castrol and they state an equivalent to be dexron III, is this true and is this dexron III partial synthetic? any extra info would be greatly appreciated, my vehicle is a nissan skyline 250gt with a 4 speed automatic/ manual gearbox.

They cost more, but I believe in using premium AT fluids. One of the best for your app would be the Amsoil product, if you can find some in southern Africa.

Stick with a universal or multivehicle ATF, preferably full synthetic.

Many fluids are compatible with older specs.
Sure, you can use TransmaxJ if you require DexronIII.
But, if you require TransmaxJ, you shouldn't use DexronIII.

BTW, Matic J is now replaced with Matic S. If you check around at dealers, you can probably get a decent price. I changed out my J for S and am pleased. Cost was about the same as Mobil 1. After warranty expires, I'll probably go to M-1 that satisfies the matic J spec.

Valvoline Maxlife ATF lists Matic J and D spec on back of the bottle.

Royal Purple
Mobil 1
BG Universal Synthetic
