Anyone know where to find one for this trans? We just picked up a CPO Armada and would like to change the ATF sooner rather than later!

Drain it cold, measure how much came out, and put the same amount back in

Isn't that the same Jatco transmission as used in the Titan? I thought those still had a regular dipstick for refilling and a drain plug on the pan in 2017.

Depending on how long and when you drain the trans, the Nissan 7AT's take 4 quarts, +/- 0.5 quarts.

There is a separate drain plug and a separate overflow tube. This is the adapter that you will need for refilling:

You will need to purchase one of their fluid pumpers to attach to the adapter.

Other tool companies sell similar setups. I have used the AST one for years w/o issues (as you see from the earlier link).

The 4spd AT in my 2015 Nissan Versa specs the same ~$400 worth of equipment must be used for ATF refilling.

Poking around under the hood, I found a pretty well hidden dipstick(less) tube that the factory service manual makes no mention of. I refilled from there with a slim funnel and tubing.

Very interesting, I'll have to do some investigating.

I'm about to do the same job on an FX50. Aside from The Critic's previous post, there isn't really much DIY info on these transmissions. Many people seem to discuss it and then don't do it. Luckily (maybe), the one I bought had it done at the dealer at 30K. I have a receipt for it, but it doesn't go into much detail aside from 30K mile severe service: Transmission fluid flushed, Coolant changed, Differentials Serviced, transfer case fluid changed and drive belts replaced. Best case they did do it with the correct fluids, worst case, they didn't, either way, it's about to get done.

I think I'm going the cheap route, which is this atwood pump. It comes with a Yamaha adapter that works on these trans apparently! I also will probably just do the drain and fill cold method.

The main thing IMO, is that kit has the fitting that threads into the pan and the associated tubing.. and for CHEAP! You might be able to use a garden sprayer or 5gal pail w/ lid with some holes and a shop vac to push fluid if one squirt per pump with that kit doesn't do it for ya.

I like that idea, I may use a fluid sprayer of some kind with tubing instead of the spray mist tip!

So i'm guessing there must be an overflow tube built in? Only reason I ask; just thinking how do you refill, remove the tube and it doesn't all just start draining again? Sorry if that's a dumb question; i just realized i've never drained and filled from the same plug before!

The overflow pipes thread quite a way up the drain plug bore, so you can leave it in place when refilling. The treaded refill adapter thingy should thread right into the drain plug and not interfere with it. This is how it works on my 2015 Nissan Versa anyway. Here's pics. It takes a 5mm allen to remove/replace. I can't say the one for your Jatco 7spd is the same as my 4spd, but you'll get the picture anyway..

Hopefully it helps some.

I've searched eBay for used 2016+ Armada Jatco 7spds just to look at the pics of the transmission itself to see if there is a top mounted recharge pipe or dipstick mounted on it somewhere (eBay pics come in handy sometimes). Can't find any for sale beyond 2011 or so.

Just did the service yesterday at 52k miles. Overall quite easy with the proper setup. I used a garden Sprayer(how have I not done this before!) with the Yamaha adapter Attached and it worked well, all total $20 in parts to make it. About 4.75qts came out and I just did the drain/fill cold method.

Original ATF was medium-dark brown, no hint of red. But otherwise Better than I expected. Filled with Maxlife and LG, trans is shifting Better than before.
