Nissan Geotour tires

Was at the Lexus dealership today and saw a CPO NX200T with brand new geotour tires on it. The brand is Geotour, no model name. 225/60/18

Did a search and turns out to be a OE Nissan tire. Never heard of a car brand marketing their own lines of tires...always thought Nissan outsourced like everybody else.

Has anyone heard of or used this brand? Is it something new Nissan is doing?

GeoTour is a Sumitomo Rubber Industries tire brand. Country of origin? Who knows?

Sumitomo has a plant in Buffalo. Maybe there. Not China a pretty good bet. I've had General made in Brazil and Hankook made in the USA. Tires a global business.

Yeah, not that the tires are made by NISSAN however, they may come as OE(original equipment on some NISSAN models or trimline of certain vehicles. I've never seen a Sumitomo on any factory vehicle.

Could be worse. They could be Goodyear Eagle LS-II that used to be one of the OE tires VW used. They were so bad, VW had to issue a TSB addressing its horrible wear.

Sumitomo also has plants in Thailand and Indonesia. The Buffalo plant did make car tires, but it seems like mostly motorcycle tires though Harley has been using Michelin as OEM recently. I recall the OEM SP Sport 4000T on my parent's Sienna were made at the Buffalo plant. Dunlop is weird - Sumitomo Rubber has rights to the name in Asia and America but Goodyear still makes them for the US market and owns the rights for Europe.

Nissan has been using some weird Mexican tire on the NV200s, they've been using Conti Vanco4Seasons on it them lately.
