Nisan Matic P (999MP-MTP10P)

What is it ? Searching for it just shows me links of where to buy it with ZERO details about it. For Nissan ATF, they skipped from "K" to "S". Ahhhh, I see you're in Bolivia....

What vehicle is this for ? I would presume it's for an automatic transmission with the "Matic" designation but I know Matic-D is used for Nissan transfer cases so it's not a 100% presumption.

The 2020 Frontier's 9-spoeed automatic is a Mercedes 9G Tronic made under license by Jatco/Nissan. AKA NAG3. You can use Maxlife with no problem :)

2020 is a transition year for the Frontier. It's the new engine/transmission in the old body

I think it would probably use NissanMatic S or equivalent, which, to my knowledge, is their latest spec. If I find out differently I'll post a correction.

I went to the Nissan dealer (with whom I have a good relation) and ordered some 999MP-MTP10P and after it arrives I will do an analysis to ascertain it's chemical signature and properties and compare it to NissanMatic S.

and compare it to NissanMatic S
Odd that Nissan would go backwards in their naming scheme. Then again, I suspect this fluid is different than their current fluid since it's for an M-B-designed transmission and Matic-S doesn't work properly for it. Also, if they called it "Matic-T" (or U, V, W, etc), people will presume it's newer, and "better".

If that new Nissan 9-speed is indeed a Daimler design, I have a feeling it’s the same as Shell ATF134FE. But we don’t know.

I finally received the analyses from the 'Labs' on the Nissan Matic-P, Nissan part #999MP-MTP10P. The dealer did clarify it is targeted for the new JATCO JR913E 9-speed transmissions that will 'potentially' replace the CVT in later year Pathfinders and other vehicles.

It is one of the new "ULV" or Ultra Low Viscosity transmission fluids with a 100C kinematic viscosity of 4.5 cSt. Dealer cost, with 7% tax, was $33.99.

Calcium averaged 250 ppm, Boron averaged 150 ppm, Phosphorus averaged 340 ppm, and Zinc averaged 7 ppm.

The color is a transparent Amber color, no dye detected.

It is what I would term a full synthetic since various spectra showed a majority of GTL, and Group IV and V components. Now some of what appeared to be Group V components were undoubtedly the phosphorous esters and the Friction Modifiers.

Other components showing up were metal inhibitors, rust inhibitors, and some minor VII. It also appears, due to the minor amount of VII, the 100C viscosity is mostly based on the Viscosity Indices of the synthetic base fluids.

Addendum: Due to this fluid's chemical signature and viscosity, I do not see, as of yet, a comparable aftermarket replacement for this fluid.

So our conjectures about using Nissan Matic-S or MaxLife as a replacement fluid is unwarranted.; I.e., do not use Nissan Matic-S or MaxLife as a replacement fluid.

Addendum:
Apparently Valvoline does now blend a multi-vehicle ULV ATF although I have yet to see it on any store shelves.

Thanks. Do you have a more compelling reason?
"you can use Maxlife with no problem" is too general.
I saw these 9G Tronic transmissions cost $13,477 so I don't want to be the reason it fails.

Actually, it’s not related to the Mercedes 9G-Tronic. Looks like Jatco made this as an evolution of their 7-speed used in the Infiniti G/Q50 series.

http://www.jatco.co.jp/english/release/2020/20200330_1138.html

The Jatco built copy looks identical to the MB 9G tronic from the outside. The case looks the same, the electrical connectors are the same and in the same location. The cooler system/routing/ plumbing is the same, the plastic pan and drain/fill/level check procedure from the pan (and tools required to do so) is also the same. I don't believe Jatco negotiated a license to build the MB 9G tronic, to just start over with an all new design.

I own a 2022 Frontier with this transmission.

If you do some digging, the MB 9G-tronic recommends a fluid with the MB 236.17 spec. Maxlife ATF (of course) is suitable for use with 236.17. Could Jatco have factory filled with a "thinner" viscosity ATF (Matic-P) for a fuel economy advantage? I would think so. I also don't believe a slightly more viscous ATF would do anything other than potentially help the unit live a happier life.

You guys know my take on "suitable for use" ATF. I have yet to experience a problem using them. I'd be the first to post given the contrary!

Nope, you should trust him because he read the spec sheet…😒

What vehicle is this in regards to?

Do you have a genuine MB 9G-tronic or is this in regards to a Nissan product (2020+ Frontier) with their version of the 9G-tronic that comes factory filled with Matic-P?

You're not going to find a fluid that says it's an exact replacement for Nissan Matic-P. Suitable for Matic-P use aftermarket fluids do not exist at this point. As @MolaKule has suggested, Valvoline ULV may be as close as we can get at the moment. I see the amazon machine sells Valvoline ULV ATF for $15.55/qt or $63.14 per case of 6qts.

Mercedes specs ATF 134LV for this, a Shell fluid for their version. I don’t think Jatco will deviate too much or risk losing their license to built it. Sounds like the same deal with the ZF 8HP45/9HP built by Mopar under license as well as Honda using the 9HP - and ZF Lifeguard 8/9, made by Shell(or whoever, like Fuchs or XOM) and sold by Mopar and Honda selling it 8/9-Speed ATF and ATF Type-3.1 respectively. Same deal wirh Ford building the 6R60 and 5R110 with ZF’s 6HP licensing and selling Lifeguard 6 with red dye as Mercon SP.

I won’t use MaxLife or the like outside of Toyota WS, Nissan-Matic K/J/S or Hyundai requirements.

Yes. I have a 2024 Nissan Frontier Pro4x.
As far as I know, the Mbenz 9G-Tronic and the JATCO JR913E are identical.
Perhaps you know differently.
It will be 3 years before I want to drain and fill my transmission.

The difference with them is one is built by MB and the other by Jatco. Every part may be identical. None of us know.

To me the difference between ULV ATF and "regular" ATF is like arguing over using 0w20 engine oil or 5w30. We know an engine spec'd for either will happily run on either. Is one better for the unit than the other for the long haul? No way of knowing this.

I called my Nissan dealer. With tax, they want $44 a quart for Matic P fluid.

He said Matic P is very new for Nissan. Matic S has been around since 2004 but Matic P is only 4 years old on their books. I'll wait for a substitute to hit the market.
