I don't get the idea of NFT's anymore than I don't get Crypto currency. Where is all this crazy values coming from? The prices people are getting for digital artwork is ridiculous in my opinion.

Or maybe I am jealous I am not artistic and smart enough, or motivated enough to figure it out!

Did you hear about one "famous" youtuber that paid some got some developers to create his own crypto currency, talked it up to his followers, and then sold all of his holdings after the followers drove the price up. The followers all lost their money. He made $500k and gave his developers $200k and bought a high end Tesla for himself.

Instagram stars, YouTube vloggers and reality TV fools providing no ultimate societal value earning more money than medical doctors. We live in a society that values these things over what is truly valuable. NFTs, crypto and “metaverse land” are just a symptom of this same insanity.

I can think of 2 reasons: 1) hype, pump and dump, great fool, etc. 2) money laundering and tax evasion like contemporary art donation, etc.
