I think I am really gonna enjoy this ride

Best of all it takes 5W30 so my stash is safe!!!!

Should be easy to change oil also as cartridge filter on top of engine..I won't miss the spilling of the metal can filters

Cool! As long as you like it, that is all that matters. Ecotec appears to be a great engine. What oil is it going to get?

Well in the stash I still have Valvoline AC, Valvoline Synth Max Life, Havoline Old Formula,Havoline Synth, Pennzoil, Kendall Synth Blend and a BOATLOAD of Shell 5W30 that I got at Wally World on the cheap.

So probably no set vintage, will follow the path of the Matrix OIC's and it will probably see all different flavors lol.

Never had a GM before so it will be interesting to see how this oil life monitor thingy works

Any ideas on what Chevy uses for factory fill?

Very nice.
I just got an o4 Gm and the olm had 12% left at my 8k change.
I too am interested in messing further with the olm vs. uoa's. I think i will reset this next one at 50% and see what happens.

Wow. Nice. I just noticed recently that the HHR now has a panel version. (even LESS visibility) I'm truely thinking about getting one instead of a gas sucking C1500. HOw the heck did you get such a discount?

Nice! (thought I'd answer here than over on the other thread)

Please keep us informed on how it goes. I have a family member who is interested in the same outfit with same engine and such.

LOVE the color!

Never seen one in that color before. Nice.

Enjoy! Bill

$21195 MSRP
$19796 Sale Price
$1500 Rebate
$465 GM Card
$250 GM Card bonus
$1000 military
$500 Trade Assist
$10000 Trade
$6081 Purchase price

$10000 Payoff
$279 Admin Fee
$16360 out the door

GM card dollars were actually 456 not 465 so that is what 8 or so bucks off what I posted above.

The dealer originally wanted to give me 8300 on the trade..no dice..just kept firm that I wanted 10K on the trade as I did not to upside down at all...he gave me a final offer of 9K on the trade..take it or leave it.....then asked do we have a deal? My response was "not just yet"
wink.gif

By the time I got home I had an email saying that he had gotten me the 10K I was wanting for the trade and we had a deal
cheers.gif
I was in a good position where I didn't NEED a new car and if they couldn't meet my terms I would have been just as happy driving the Matrix for 300K....admin fee is somewhat high but I figure dealers who have real low fees make it up in the price somewhere else

Thanks Bill..yeah, I had not even been considering this color until I saw it in the sunlight and WOW...It glimmers gold flake when the sun hits it...very nice color...really would have preferred the ebony interior but it was trade off to get a pretty well equipped vehicle for that price.

I'll continue to post about how it is running, likes, dislikes etc....and of course UOA's

Nice ride! I've never seen the inside of one, it looks nice!
I know you have quite a stash of oils built up, BUT, for oils, I'd reccommend you look at running syns in it from the start.

Only reason I say that is that our member OriginHacker21 has done this on his Ecotech powered Sunfire, he does mostly highway driving, and I think he gets the most consistent, lowest-number UOA's on this board (well, him and Bill in Utah do). Also, with this regime, I can imagine his engine is spotless inside. I wouldn't run as short of OCIs as he does, but he seems to have these Ecotechs figured out as far as wear is concerned. Just a thought.

I know that todays conventional oils are great, and will provide long life, but if I had a 'clean slate' (new car) to start with, I'd run nothing but syns in it so I knew it was staying spotless inside. Even cheap group III's would provide this benefit!

Hey! I've seen those pictures somewhere else

I hope the 2.2 is as much fun to drive as the 2.4 is in mine.

Gee I wonder where
laugh.gif
I was wondering if you were gonna pop in.....hopefully tomorrow or Thursday I can get this sewn up....around town the 2.2 and 2.4 seemed the same to me....the 2.4 showed it's teeth kicking into passing gear on the highway...I'll get some pics once it is all cleaned up and home

Wow...what a nice car for the money! Picked up yesterday and have not stopped griining yet...been a long time since I have had a "fun"car and this set of wheels fits that bill

I hear what you are saying about synth but I have a LOT of dino 5W30 in my garage...if I start buying more oil my wife will kill me...literally
shocked.gif
And too boot the UOA's I did with dino vs synth were not all that different...in fact other than the TBN the wear numbers were almost the same!

Nice car. Those HHR's are VERY quiet at highway speeds and offer mini-ute storage without the hefty price tag.

Other than the power window controls, this car is an excellent purchase!

Congrats!

cheers.gif

After owning a Vue (my wife still has her's) the windows are not an issue for me...talk is that 2008 will move them to the doors

I've only had one fill up...the DIC said 30 mpg...my math came out to 28.58 mpg. I about to fill up today and the DIC says 29.2 mpg..I figure probably 27-28 mpg. 900 miles on the engine so I suspect that once I start to pile up the miles it should get better. At least that is how it worked on my Matrix...first summer I had it I was avg 32 mpg in the summer months...the 2nd summer almost 36 mpg.

Gonna change the oil tomorrow
smile.gif

I picked the wrong time to cut my mpg I guess lol All good though
