No weight penalty - the OE wheel probably weighs in the ballpark of 25-26 pounds (OE cast aluminum wheel, and you can see by the picture that it has some pretty thick spokes), and the Eagle RS-A in 235/45R18 weighs 25 pounds. The new wheel and tire both weigh 22 pounds according to Tire Rack - so he's looking at a savings of 6-7 pounds per corner.
Negligible change to SAI - practically all the wheels that Tire Rack has for the '06 Eclipse GT are either 7.5" with a 42-45 mm offset, or 8" with a 40 mm offset, and this includes the Enkei G5. Tire Rack seems to be overly picky about sticking to OE wheel envelopes, so I'd expect that the OE wheel is in the 38-42 mm offset range.
All in all, I'd say this is a very nice package for the car, especially at $1,400 for the whole shootin' match.
Yeah, the new setup should be pretty close if not a little less weight than the OE setup. I wouldn't mind a little weight saving, but we are prob talking about a neglibible change with the new wheels and tires.
The OE wheels are 18x8 as well as the new Enkei wheels. I believe the oe wheels are +38mm and the Enkeis are +40, which is exactly the same as the ASA AR1 wheels in picture two. They have a slightly wider stance than the OE wheels. I noticed no real differece in driving between the +40 and +38 wheels. I just aligned the vehicle yesterday, and looks like
Front Camber -0.20
Front Toe 0.0
Rear Camber -1.0
Rear Toe 0.20
I will be sure to post new photos when I install them.
I loved the ASA Wheels. I have always liked the mesh BBS style wheel, but they just were starting to show their age so they have been transfered to the 96 Camry. +4 upsiizing an an 18x8 wheel on the 4cyl Camry makes this thing corner like no toerh camry I've ever drven lol
