New vehicle purchasing questions

All negotiating a payment will do is get you a longer term ... Unfortunately, a lot of people don't realize that
and they can just up the price of the vehicle, long as they meet the say 400 month, theyll push the term out to 72 months. instead of paying 25K for the car you now at 28.800. all because you wanted to stay at the 400 month.
so like i said always negotiate on the price of the car.

my own rules:
1. buy cpo, although these crazy days some new deals are better. if no cpo then a trade-in sold at a high-end brand dealer also tends to be brought up to date on maintenance; see carfax or repair order.
2. look online and nationwide, e.g. cars.com, autotrader, etc. to get a sense of availability and prices.
3. be willing to travel away or even out of state to buy.
4. buy the otd price, not monthly payment.
5. arrange own credit union financing in advance.
6. absolutely skip looking at any dealer that adds pin-stripes, undercoating, seat protection, market adjustment and other junk fees. they may well be shady in other ways too.
7. be patient, but surprisingly even now if you look around you can find a relative deal that works for you.

I would take a $20k Kyundaia over a Dodge Caliber for free.
I mean yeah, the Caliber is both objectively and subjectively a terrible vehicle with a Rubbermaid interior and god awful CVT. But I had just bought a house, I was just barely 21, my girlfriend (now wife) was pregnant and in desperate need of a vehicle, I wasn’t thinking very clearly lol

We all gotta learn somewhere, no biggie. I once owned a Nissan so I can’t give too much crap. To be fair, it was a Maxima but still.:ROFLMAO::geek:

I'm guessing you don't win too many bets. You'd rather drive a Hyundai than a Mercedes? I drive a Mercedes all the time although not C class. They're very smooth and quiet.
I was impressed with a 90's used S class that I drove. I was horrified at how bad my bosses new E Class was when he was showing it off to me. But it was the bad E early 2K if I remember. E430. Bought it to keep his Wife safe, she soon thereafter crashed the thing. But she was O.K.

Some people want something other than Smooth and Quiet. The Hyundai N is a like a Honda R which is also priced close to 40k (!) But If I did a lot of highway travel, smooth and quiet goes a long way to tolerating the long miles.

My best friend has a big V8 SL roadster and a BMW 750 Li.

He bought them used in VG condition; total for both cars UNDER 25G

He likes to "Put on the RITZ" everywhere he goes :) Good for him.

It apparently was the proper appliance at the time for you and it did the job.
No need to justify your decision.

Subaru has been running with this style 5 door slant-back or over a decade.

Yesterday got a call from toyota dealer agent the corolla I ordered 6 weeks ago at dealer ready,my I son went 26miles x 2 drive(4toll gate)Illinois. We arrived takes few minutes on the lobby to noticed that we were there, eventully someone noticed,I told her I'm here picking up the car I ordered. The salesman nice showed me the corolla wow, it's SE sedan not LE the color is correct,He called the manager pulled out the paper work. They apologized but pushing to sell the SE model for 5k more, they surely mentioned that the salesman at fault.Manager said you can wait another month or so to get the right one,I declined and ask for my deposit of 2500$ to be refunded on my credit card.Manager said oh well we do that all the time the customer will buy anyway because of the present situations,I told him not today to earn 8k from me.Walked away and pretty frustrated. They lost my business and many friend,co workers and relatives not to deal with them. Thanks, just sharing.
