From what I've read, idling is bad for these new modern Diesel's. Because they regurgitate their exhaust, and that can cause the cats to clog.
Which in turn can lead to costly clean out procedures. Mainly because the exhaust gas temperature doesn't get high enough while idling. And all that soot has to go somewhere if it's not getting burned off inside the cats.
