New to me 45 ACP

Got this on Gunbroker for less than $300. All in all, $360 with shipping and FFL transfer.

I bought my first XD9 in 2006 I think of maybe a bit earlier. "Bi-tone", like this new to me 45 ACP. Since, i have over 15K rounds of varying brands, projectiles, and some home brewed proof ammo, just to test the gun's durability. Environment torture test, etc. One failure on the first mag when brand new, that's it. Since, I got another XD9, maybe 10 years ago, as a backup. Never a failure.

That is what prompted me to get this XD45. It came with\ all original paraphernalia, and one additional mag. 13+1 capacity. Killer price. Lords caliber.

I got the opportunity to shoot my first "XD" somewhere in 2000 or 2001 as the HS2000, a Croatian military and police pistol. Still in use by the way.

A few years ago, Springfield Armory and Rock River were caught doing some shady stuff having to do with gun legislation in Illinois. Since, prices for the XD have went down tremendously. Some are not made anymore, such as the stainless version or "bi-tone".

You cannot buy more of a milspec gun, especially for the money. Tank like reliability, accurate, nice ergonomics. So if you are new to guns or have a small budget, consider the XD line. Apart from my own experience with them, I have never heard of a failure.

I have the XD mod.2 in .40 s&w and .45 acp, both are the subcompact models. I really like them, they are simple, easy to clean and just simply work.

I don't own an XD but have some history. You did great! Solid gun for the price. I'd change out the RSA and possibly the remaining springs. Have you gotten a chance to shoot it yet?

Yes. I got it home, did a cursory inspection and lube.....then shot 100 Rounds from all mags. Some ball PMC fmj and some Underwood +p FMJ. Just as expected, no failures, dead on. After, I cleaned it real good, and lubed. I think I used a bit of 15w50 M1. in a old military CLP bottle.

I am going\ to g\\et a few aftermarket parts for it. An extended leng\th\ mag\ release button in stainless. Some stainless pins, and a extra heavy duty striker retaining\ pin. I think I have one actually.

Years ag\o, I did a detail strip of the slide of my oldest XD and found th\e roll pin that retains th\e striker h\ad broke in h\alf from abuse, and repeated dry fire drills. I would h\ave never known the pin was broke, no effect in function.

One thing I forgot to mention..........

The XD service models all use the same holster. Glock 20 or 21 for example. They are larger than the g17 or 19.

Got it yesterday. It was a bit nasty, a bunch of gunk forward of the striker, likely due to over oiling of that area. A few hour soak in CLP, some light brushing and air compressor did the trick.

Over oiling of the striker channel in the XD and really any striker fired gun can cause light strikes, in my experience.

Both look near brand new, have not shot the black one, will this weekend to validate.

nah 2 9mms and 2 45s is enough.

2 is one and 1 is none

huh .....yeah i do read the manual......mostly unless already known process on a like gun.

of note, the cz scorpion has an odd all lubrication order.

yes xd is same, no lube on striker. it striker has a convexed shape, smooth, and creates a bit of a loose seal in the channel. there is a drain hole near this area, but that can only do so much.
