Unfortunately not really. Warren made autozone oil was a stellar choice. Good performance, quality control on point, and such. This new STP Brand oil is the worst I have seen yet. VOAs show that it just has the bare minimum in it, and about 15% OF ALL stp oil that comes to my store is either damaged out because of leaky bottles, or get's sent back to STP because of wrong packaging. Case on point - in my district all SAE30 in 1qt bottles was thrown away because there was something else in the bottles, not SAE30. And there are many other cases that make me wonder if they know what quality or quality control is. Warren never had such issue. Maybe one leaky bottle out of a hundred. So I would never ever use the STP oil in my car. Warren made Supertech gets my vote here.
How would the store know what's in the bottle unless it's a recall sent from stp?
The autozone employees I encounter are not very knowledgeable at all. Especially about oil.
But. I was giving autozone the benefit of the doubt thinking that the switch to stp was mainly a bottle and label change to perk up sales. It makes sense to me that they would go even cheaper to cheapen the product.
I only care about autozone when they have a clearance. The rest of the year they are priced way to high to lure me from Walmart.
Ex. 5w20 Castrol edge is 22.97 at Walmart is 35.99 at autozone.
Agree with you here. I work at autozone and only bought oil at work on Christmas clearance sale. Walmart was my source for oil before I got an oil stash. As far as parts - I buy it at autozone because most hard parts got lifetime warranty in any autozone in the world. So because of this I don't mind paying a little extra over rockauto for the ability to change a broken part the same day, no matter where I am, and no shipping madness.
