Is the new Prestone "Yellow" 5-year anti-freeze a G-05 anti-freeze (like Ford Gold?)

I am currently using Prestone Green 2-year anti-freeze in all of my vehicles w/ great success (all Fords, 1981, 2000, and 2003).

No. It's a pure OAT coolant, closer to Dexcool, actually. Don't let that scare you, though. They don't use quite the same chemicals. I'm basically running that in my car. G05 is a hybrid OAT, with a mixture of silicates and phosphates (like the old stuff) and organic acid salts (like the new ones).

Ok thanks for clearing that up. I had done a search on here before and I would end up reading people's research papers on what different anti-freezes are available and I just wanted a Cliff's Notes version!

OK, so MY question is:

Can I use the new Prestone in MY car?

2003 Mercury Marauder...came with Motorcraft Premium Gold (G-05) from the factory. Can I use the new Prestone (or other brand) for top-up or for re-fill after changing the thermostat or hoses (for instance), without having to do an entire flush?

If your car came with motorcraft gold, best bet is to use either the motorcraft gold stuff, or Zerex G 05. I believe they are about the same price. Zerex G 05 is about $9 a gallon and so is motorcraft gold, at least it is at the dealer near me.

I don't know how compatible the G 05 HOAT coolant is with the Prestone OAT coolant.
