new parts:
9950X3D
Asrock X870E Taichi (EATX)
NZXT 1000w psup
1TB Crucial T705
Arctic Freezer III 420mm AIO
11 Noctua NFA-14 PWM fans (6 on Push Pull duty on the AIO)
32 GB 6400MT/S CL30 DDR5 gskill ram.

old parts:
Phanteks Enthoo Primo Case
Nvidia RTX3080 FTW3
3 1TB M.2 gen 3 drives.

Pic is before the other 8 noctua’s showed up.

replaced an Asus X99 Rampage V extreme and Intel I7-5960X with 32 gb 2400MT/s DDR4 (last pic). built with this brand new in like 16’ and has run at 4.8ghz at 1.35vcore since. I will miss 40 PCIE lanes and being on an enthusiast platform. this is the first time i’ve been on mainstream hardware on my personal machine since intel 3rd gen.

I've been out of the PC build for 6 years. Does your MB come with 3 slots for M.2 drives or do you need an adapter to a PCIe slot?

4 slots, 1 is gen 5x4 the rest operate at gen 4x2 if all populated IIRC.

Very nice. I've been a die hard intel/nvidia guy, maybe it's time to change.

My wife is the gamer, and my PC is always her old gaming rig. I'm kind of thinking that I need something newer.

Her current rig is i9 9900KF/2080ti. It's been pretty good.

yea first personal machine on AMD here

Nice rig! Maybe you could donate some of your computer's massive computing power to do some research. My 5950x runs "Mapping Cancer Markers" 24/7. Here's the link for projects running under the World Community Grid banner: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/.

getting dated. but not too bad. the 9950x3d is around 70k on cpumark
your current pc around 18k

I replaced my skylake i7-6700k with a i7-13700k last year
4-5x faster. quite a bump.

Videocard right now is terrible market.
nvidia has nonexistent stock.

i still have two comps running in the house with 6700’s. skylake was a great platform that can still hold its own. my main HTPC is rocking an 8700K and 1080ti. i like to milk my hardware, 5 fully built once gaming computers in the house

I tend to give away my previous pc when I build a new one.
but last time I sold the video card super cheap(2060) to a coworker so the rest of the pc is sitting here.

i have a lot of display around the house that needs the horsepower to decode plex streams. when we have house parties i tend to stream plex everywhere.
