Maybe the 0W-20 doesn't carry the same approval as the 5W-30?

It's my understanding that all VRP viscosities were already passing SQ & GF-7A, they just needed to update the packaging.

According to the API Engine Oil Licensing & Certification System directory, all the grades in the screenshot below of Valvoline Restore and Protect are listed as API SQ and ILSAC GF-7A or B (except the Euro 5W-40).

Also, I wish 10W-30 would be made available in the US market!

June 24, 2026 is the date on the bottle

They've said that it meets SQ requirements but they are using up old labels.

If I was ever going to run such a thin oil, it would only be VRP.

They are using up old bottles, but the oil meets SQ. I posted (in one of the VRP threads) an email response from Valvoline saying so when I emailed them about the same thing.

I have to double check my new jugs but I think they are all labeled GF-6A and API SP. My new bay box is GF-7A and API SQ. Also has a date on it. June 2006. I forget exact date.

Must mean June 2026. The Valvoline bottles that have pretty new date codes that are labeled GF-6A/SP most likely meet GF-7A/SQ.

I emailed Valvoline about this on the Valvoline Extended Protection I bought back in May and this was their response.
