Mobil 1 oils, my chose for the last 47 years, have always kept my engines very clean. As for pistons, I've never had ring coking which leads to oil consumption because of blow by.

For what it’s worth it doesn’t have that fruity ESP 0W-30 smell or the gear oil smell of Valvoline Restore and Protect.

So this is actually quite a different elemental analysis than the rest of the mobil 1 line. All other ilsac mobil 1 oils have equal parts calcium and magnesium around 700ppm. Also a mobil 1 oil without boron is quite suprising, more moly than the rest of the Mobil 1 line outside of M1R and Super Car 5w-50. Thanks alot @Glenda W.

How could you be sure of that?
Have you opened apart any of those engines to look at the piston rings?

When you have ring coking oil consumption goes up, sometimes way up. In the 48 years I have used Mobil 1 oils I have never had an engine increase in oil consumption or varnish in the cam or rocker area. Some engines with well over 300K.

That’s a good run! Took me about 40 years before I had my first oil burner. Unfortunately others aren’t so lucky.

Yeah not typical of Mobil but their website hasn't changed much in years.

It took Mobil almost 5 years to add esp x2 and esp x3

My guess is Mobil will have some kind of advertising release. They probably want to make sure it’s available at retailers before then. I’d imagine the website will be updated around the same time.

Honestly it’s a mystery at the moment. I can say the VOA shows a different formula vs EP. Also low oxidation indicates no esters. I hope Mobil releases more info soon!

Unfortunately 10w30 is a weight that many car manufacturers in the US stopped recommending.
