Honda GCV190

I've got a GCV 160 on a 12ytear old Honda, pretty good motor. Obviously they need a bit more op=power for self propelled.

Amen brother!!! but if u have a reason to have a self propelled mower............

My Snapper is front drive, and that helps well enough for my yard. The RWD are supposedly better, but my last one was a Toro, and I was fighting against the transmission when I turned it around. AWD on a mower seems excessive and complicated to repair.

The only thing I don't like is the Honda engine. I have a Husqvarna self propelled mower with a Honda engine - [censored]. Gutless, finnicky with fuel, rpms never stable, smokes - just awful since new. Meanwhile, 2 older push mowers with good old B&S engines outpower it and no smoke.

I was interested in this mower (not to buy one, just as a new product) until I found out that it simply has two belt-driven transmissions instead of one. I was hoping for something a little different, such as maybe a shaft drive to one or both transmissions...something a little more elegant than a belt two belts.

The engine should go forever, but the two transmissions...?

AWD - I'd want posi-trak front & back, large tires and golf shoe spike tires for ripp'n lawn grip.
It will also have to beat my HRX top speed in the straight-away strip.

Yeah, some of them get carried away with the ground speed. My Snapper mulcher w/ friction disk drive system is so fast at max speed, it's not usable in that range. For my phat arse anyway.. I'd have a heart attack trying to run behind it.

I can see the front and rear drive working against each other until the mower explodes into a fireball. Time for a new mower! That's the idea you know.
