New here --- Question Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W40

I have just baught the last known 3 gallons of Mobil 1 Truck and SUV 5w-40 oil. I have a 05 Dodge 3500 with a5.9 Cummins engine. My truck has 252,000 miles and I have used the TRuck'/SUV oil since the first oil change. The Mobil 1 Truck/SUV oil stocked now is 5W30 and does not have the CI-4 designator and it states on the label for Gasoline engines. Is Delvac Synthetic 5W40 comperabl3?

There has been an ongoing debate as to whether the Truck & SUV 5W-40 is Delvac 1 relabeled. I believe it is and I spoke with a Mobil 1 rep who stated the same thing.

With that being said, Mobil 1 now has the Mobil 1 Truck and SUV formulation for gas burners in the 5w30 viscosity. The newest 5W-40 formulation for diesels with a CI-4+ rating is called Turbo Diesel Truck and should be on Wal-Mart shelves any day now.

The consensus is that Delvac 5w40 is the gold standard, and that maybe the "old" Mobil 1 Truck and SUV 5w40 was as good as Delvac, and maybe the "new" Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 will be as good as Delvac.

Use the Delvac with confidence, and hope that the M1 Turbo Diesel Truck arrives at a Walmart near you... because gallon jugs of Delvac typically cost $24-28 a gallon. (Though I did find some for $17.50 one time.)

Mobil 1 Truck and SUV 5W-40 was not only as good as Delvac 1, it *was* Delvac 1.

The Turbo Diesel 5W-40 also meets CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4 and CF. It uses some of the technology ExxonMobil has been using in the European 5W-40 diesel formulae.
