New Dodge Hornets reported as selling 33 percent below MSRP- worth consideration??

The ads were laughable ... a Hornet out in front of a couple Hellcats and a 392 (I think). Then there was the one about getting in touch with your inner child and being some sort of torque monster.
They had 1 job and they failed by shoving an EV nobody asked for nor wanted down our throats while axing the V8’s in everything except the Durango... I know the Hurricane I6’s make more power and yes they feel good to drive, but nothing beats NA V8 power. Mmmmmmmm torque 🤤

The Hornet is just another failed Chrysler 4 banger.

They are basically the same car as a Stelvio but they are rebadged as a Dodge.

No.

Tonale.

Blue Tonale.webp

I think they'll be difficult to obtain body parts for also given the short run. After several years a simple fender bender might be more likely to take them off the road.

These seem like the modern-day Dodge Caliber: here today, forgotten tomorrow

Car And Drive reports the Dodge Hornet as a "near-clone of the Alfa Romeo Tonale. That’s not altogether a bad thing; Dodge’s compact crossover gives you the same basic package—nimble handling and all-wheel drive in an attractive, tidy wrapper—at a decent discount compared to the Alfa. "
If it was sold here as an Alfa Romeo Tonale people would be wanting to buy an exotic.

The caliber was a horrendous-looking car with mediocre road manners, and yet, may well have had the usability and reliability edge on the new Hornet.

I would not buy a Hornet if it sold for 10 cents. Their lineage has a bad reputation, poor MPG, terrible reliability, and low power... why, why, why? LOL

So they MIGHT have terrible reliability, but the base model has 268 horsepower and the turbo 3 hybrid has 20 more. That’s roughly three times the power of your Prius C The base has a combined mpg of 24. The reviews of the car are quite positive on road manners and performance. The cars are piled up on lots. I am most certainly a buyer at 10 cents, but if Stellantis wants my dough, I am also ready to pony up $18,000.

However, what ultimately undermines it is a lack of refinement, dependability, and reputation...Stellantis does not do these things well, especially Fiat.

I agree with some of that, but not about lack of refinement. I am not really concerned about reputation as long as the car is decent underneath. Dependability is the issue assuredly and that is what you have to forgo if you were to pull the trigger. By the way, I named my price in this thread a few days ago and did not hear even a peep from any of the nation's Dodge dealers.
