+1

I'm not sure about the warranty aspect about this BUT I would say that every 10k or so I would run the 3M Intake Cleaner Kit through it. This WILL clean the valves since it is directing the solvent through the intake manifold.

Also like someone else posted a low volatility oil and make sure the change it a bit earilier than the manufacturer states to be on the safe side.

I'd even go with an HDEO like Shell Rotella if possible.

no, do not add any additives to the fuel other than what is in the gas already. the injectors plugging is not going to be an issue. also, while I have not seen it often, I have heard of at least one GM DI engine that had to have a injector replaced due to being stuck open after performing a fuel injector flush/cleaning.

I listened to a mechanic buddy complaining about them just yesterday, especially the GM version. I guess it depends on who you talk too. [/quote]

Was he just complaining of anticipated problems or did he cite actual cases? I would be interested in hearing of actual cases so I could avoid whatever caused the problem.

He cited two very recent cases with GM products. Both cases the cars were in for oil changes, and the customers complained of poor idle quality, and slight loss of power. He's in touch with GM tech friends of his and they told him they are also getting some complaints, some as soon as 20,000 miles short hop soccer mom use. He suggested trying something like Seafoam via a vacuum line, or going back to the dealer and complain. He is also of the belief that DI still has a way to go before they get the bugs out.

um, care to back that claim up?

GM has had problems with the 4cylinder engine in that model (and the Terrain) but I haven't heard anything bad about the V-6.

There was a few problems with the 3.5/3.6 a while ago that they found was do to too long OCI's. They re-programed the oil life monitor on those.

The tensioner for the cam chain was sludging up and the chain would get loose.

It is a BIG change too. Mine was re-programmed and it went from 8% (original programming) to 28% (New programming) in 2 months and 1,500 (Approx.) I checked back to the oil life history from Onstar to be certain. I think the new programming takes the short trips (low mileage) V.S. time into consideration more than previously. We only have 16,000 miles in 3 years (car was built in June 2008) I change every 6 months no matter how few miles are on it since that adds up to be a LOT of very short trips. She's not one to warm it up either.

I think Valvoline SynPower 5w30 SN has one of the lowest NOACK ratings of a name brand over-the-counter oils out there. Not sure but I'm betting they meet Dexos by now also.

I use Red Line now as I've seen & read solid proof it lowered intake valve deposits but I wouldn't go that route as it won't meet your required specs officially.

Also, I can definitely confirm it is a real issue many of us suffer from. As in boroscoped & confirmed. Power loss dyno tested & mpg tested confirmed. I'm under a NDA now so I can't say much more other than confirm there are products (plural) being produced to deal w/ these issues. There are a few posters on this board who know a great deal about it & post tons of info here. Just look for related threads & you can check them out.

P.s. Go to the Audi forums. Tons of pics & real world accounts there of the D.I. IVD issues there. I've also seen some incredible proof myself I mentioned above but I can't really say anymore about it now as my car is now in their testing program, but I'll just say they spare no expense to be extremely thorough in their testing methods & evaluation & there is no room for just testimony. Every single test before & after is scientific & backed by every means available to them. I hope I don't upset them saying even this much. I just really wanted to relay it is a real world problem & not just speculation.
