just felt like posting a pic of my desktop...this is on my Lenovo laptop right now: (thanks to the bitog member who sent me the rocketdock icon software):

Wow! That looks fab!

RocketDock is great! Vista Transformation Pack version 6 puts a new Start-menu fob on the desktop, and allows you to remove the entire taskbar. Combined with RocketDock, it gives a completely new look & feel. VTP6 also has widgets...all for free!

Thanks.
now, that VTP6: I'd like to try it, but it has some scary reviews: of corrupting hardware and not being able to uninstall it etc, etc.
T&S: do you have the VTP6? any prob's with it?

No probs so far. Just installed it over VTP 5.5, really nice. Wait til 6.01 comes out to work out the kinks I guess. Although, the entire Vista visual experience is something I can live without...Vista just looks drab after a while...

That rocket dock is interesting. I am not exactly thrilled about it taking up an additional 16 MB of my RAM, but I'm gonna test it out for a few weeks. If I get used to it, maybe i'll keep it. I do like a clean desktop for sure.

wow that's nice, too. I wish I could afford that right now, but can't justify, 'cause I just got 1GB ram ($109) for my Lenovo thinkpad.

what does the trial version offer? and how long does it last?

you got PM, trucku...

here's another effort of mine: ( I really have to stop mucking around with this stuff, and start studying !!)

I think they are both very good.
I have only used Aston and I love it. You can customize it to boot. check out the web site and all the themes. You can make it do almost anything you would want from a desktop.

I am sure you can download them for a test run. You be the judge.

This isn't as visually exciting as that storm pic (Great photo!), but it did amaze me that a 16-bit application works at all on Windows XP x64 bit edition. I get to play a couple of of my old fave's without having to reboot to 32-bit Windows thanks to "DOSBox":

Drew, and TNS, both look very nice !

Drew, does IE and FF fight on your desktop?

and does anybody know if itunes has any other skins for win?

it goes on....
i need to move that widget to another place, though. widget shows CPU, hard disk and mem usage, battery state, wireless strength, and even weather (one of the VERY few widgets that look good, and actually works)

when I got rocket dock, i had that icon (and all others) on the desktop like usual. I just dragged and dropped them to rocketdock; that was it.
(now i had that icon for a folder that contained my wirus utilities; it was NOT the defualt icon or anything, i always change icon of all my folders: rt-click>properties>customize>change icon...etc. so that folder was already there; it is NOT the real power on/off for the computer)
