I have a 2015 Turbo VW Beetle. VW recommends changing plugs at 60K. I have 65K. My mechanic recommends a change, he is a
good mechanic and he is reliable. Changing plugs to Iridium costs $220.00. I assumed I would notice a change in power, but
he says I will not. I am surprised and I might as well keep mine. What is your opinion? Many thanks

You should replace them at the interval VW recommends. Modern engines are good at masking worn out spark plugs compared to simpler engines of yore. You don't want to keep driving it until it starts misfiring. A set is like $50 and the job is easy peasy if you're able bodied. Pulling out the connectors from the coils is the "scary" part, but at 65K miles you don't have the heat cycles like something with over 100K so I think you'll be fine. Pulling the ignition coils out can be difficult. I changed the plugs on my nieces 2017 Jetta 1.4 and used clothes line rope on one stubborn coil.

VW OE plugs have been NGK for years now.
