Another AT / CVT / DCT issue I've come across frequently are those who complain about service (may or may not contain aftermarket parts / fluid) AFTER a long history of neglect. It's quite common for a vehicle to come in for service with a transmission / engine issue that has just been filled with fresh fluid ... I get it, you screwed up and are trying your luck. Fresh fluid might help but usually the damage has already been done.
Obviously this does not apply to all cases and I've gone through this myself. Modern automotive systems are complex, complicated and we lack all the info to fully understand what's going on. Changing fluid is easy and is a reasonable first step.
