New Coolant Hose - Normal or Manufacturing Defect?

I noticed these little cracks at the end of one of the new coolant hoses I installed. Is this normal (part of the manufacturing process) or something I should be concerned with? Shortly after completing the job I noticed a little bit of coolant bubbling from there, but I think that could be from getting some coolant on the hose and I haven't noticed much since.

They look like serrations from the cutting/trimming process maybe?
I was thinking that could be it as well! Or could it be where some kind of threading is imbedded into the rubber for added structure? On the bottom hole it looks like there might be a little remnant of a white string / thread coming out.

What brianl703 said. That's just the reinforcing weave the rubber is formed around. Adds strength and runs from the beginning of the run of hose to the end. They cut and form the shaped hoses from long rolls. It's normal.
