I have a 2007 Civic LX which I bought new in May. I don't drive much and it has only been driven 2,000 miles. At 1,500 miles I drained the factory fill and converted to Amsoil 0W-20. As was indicated above, the oil change took about 4 quarts. After much research I opted to use the Amsoil EAO13 oil filter. Many will warn against draining the factory fill early, as Honda claims to use a magical, mystical break-in oil. I think you will find that this break-in oil is conventional oil that contains a lot of Moly...
I don't believe they "claim" anything of the sort...
I think they advise that you do not change the oil early...
I presume they feel that additives in fresh oil may hinder the normal seating in of the valves and that the old "break-in" ideas are obsolete due to more precise assemblies and the like. I have no idea whether they are correct or not, and I would change oil in a new Honda somewhat early, but certainly not at old rule of thumb of 500 miles, and not before 3000 miles..
