One of the things on my "wish to see" list has been high performance or Racing oils from ChevronTexaco (I understanding the "Texaco part is being eliminated - don't get me started on that part) and Havoline. I always wanted to see competition to the offerings from Red Line, Mobil 1R 0W 30 and GC for that matter. I figured, "if the Chevron Supreme and the Havoline Synthetics are among the best for the money - I wonder how good would a full synthetic be"? Surely, Chevron must have the technical ablility to do so."

Those of you in Califonia can be among the first to sample some of a test market of new 5W 30 and 10W 30 viscosities. Go to racingrevolution.com for more information and where to buy. And maybe you California guys can let the rest of us know if it is the "next big thing".

This is good to see. Are they test marketing it? Demand for these types of oils have to be marketed in such a way that it reaches the High Performance crowd. I'd like to see more of these oils. Any plans on a East Coast distributor? These oils are probably similar to what Havoline makes for professional racing teams.

Yes. It is my understanding that it is a test market. I guess we motorheads in the midwest will be that last to see it. I would love to get my oil stained hands on oils that are either hard to get, "too good" or "overkill" (within reason) for my motor.

And don't forget to run a VOA.

This should indicate what level of additives it will have. Looks like an SL oil. I am very glad.

Q: Can I use Racing Revolution without voiding my new car warranty?
A: Yes. Racing Revolution will meet the warranty requirements of all vehicles through model year 2004 calling for API SL and/or ILSAC GF-3 in the appropriate viscosity grades.

The Elves tell me, at best, it's the "next medium thing."

I would like more information on this oil before I would consider using it. It is Group III, PAO, Group V or a mix there of. What type of additive package does it have. It it just for racing or for the street as well.

Just got off the phone with them. Basically they plan on releasing this oil nation wide by the year end. They are actually having good success with it at the quick lube places out west. The guy behind it is a former Shell Chemist, now works for ChevronTexaco. They can ship anywhere in the country if you want to try it. Couldn't get any details, but I am going to send this website link to them, so maybe he or the Chevron guy can become a member.

He said that the NASCAR driver that runs the Havoline car (forget his name...McMurray??) has about 6 different oils he uses custom blended by ChevronTexaco. All for different conditions. So maybe we'll here from someone about these oils...I see a much greater effort behind this then what Mobil did with M1R. Mobil should have had this oil at quick lube places. Not sure though how Havoline is explaining the API issue to people that are buying this oil.

Pricing at the Service Distributing distributor (locations - Thousand Palms, Bellflower and San Diego, CA) is $30.00 case or $5.00/qt plus shipping. Phone number: (800) 834-3569.

They will have availability to ship as of May 20, 05.

Just an FYI. The names Texaco and Havoline are not going away. The only thing they changed was the corporation name. It's just Chevron. Texaco and Havoline will be brands of the Chevron Corp. Just as Pennzoil and Quaker State are brands of Shell Oil.

Hi Folks:
I'm actually quite pleasantly surprised to see Racing Revolution mentioned here. But I guess BITOG really is "all seeing, all knowing"!!

I am familiar with this product and yes, it is in limited market testing right now. While current primary distribution is in California, some of the product has found its way East into the hands of very curious and eager enthusiasts.

And to answer SSDude, Racing Revolution is designed as an aggressive street oil. Robust anti-wear chemistry, yet still managing to stay w/in API SL specs. I've got ~2500 mi now on the 5W30 version, in my street car. plan to put in a track day or two, and several more autocross days, before next OC and hopefully UOA.

This is what I'm talking about - different oils for different usage conditions!

This site has virtually no information! I don't think the site was ready to release to production:

Thanks for the info, though. Hopefully they'll flesh out the data soon.

Upon my asking about more data, they told me the following:
5W 30 : Flash point 450F
Pour point -39C
HT/HS - 3.1

10W 30 : Flash point 450F
Pour point - 36C
HT/HS - 3.2

Of course these are unofficial figures. If these are correct, it kind of looks like plain old Chevron Supreme to me! Where is the beef? Wonder if that what that NASCAR Havoline car has in it?

Yes, what you were given are unofficial figures. The product is in test market (not fully commercialized), so not a lot of data for general consumption right now. What is happening, however, is real-world testing being done with several regional racing series. Also, Sales/Marketing to the average enthusiast is mostly being done on the street level, e.g. using our distributors' contacts and sales forces, & participating in regional motorsports events as coningency sponsors. Not big-media advertising or blanket distribution into Kragen's etc. In other words, a very different targeted product introduction than what Chevron or other majors would normally do with their other products.

think of it as a "Skunkworks"-like project for ChevronTexaco!

Same way that I feel about GC amber.

I just learned that I can obtain this Racing Revolution oil here in Concord, California, which is only about fifteen miles from where I live! however, I'm wondering if this oil would be appropriate to use in a factory Chevrolet big block, crate 450hp/502 engine with factory stock clearances in SAE 10/30? Or, do you think that Amsoil SAE 5/30 HDDO would be better or maybe, Mobil one 10/30 EP or 0-30 Racing oil-or? Opinions please? Thanks!
