Saw a commercial for a new castrol product that is supposed to help with start up wear.

Is this stuff believable?

Castrol GTX Start Up is a new brand of motor oil that is specially formulated to provide superior start up protection
Key Benefits

Castrol is one of the best oil blenders out there, and per the VOA of Startup and the reports of it by members here, it looks to be a fine oil. Perhaps more of a synthetic blend, and a better synthetic blend (ester vs. Grp. 3 or 4) than Syntec Blend. Considering it's the same price as Syntec Blend, I'll take the Startup anyday over the blend.

Amsoil has been advertising polar affinity for years. Though they don't have a special startup product to call it. Just plain old ultra premium synthetic lubricants.

In the UK its called Magnatec, but despite corny advertising, how true is this statement and how important are polar nature of esters ?

I guess Magnatec has been available in UK since 99/00 in 15W40 (old engines) and 10W/40 (modern engines).

There is Magnatec (10W40 only) in Singapore/Malaysia for quite a while already.... does this mean Castrol using this region as test market first???
