Hello All,
Sunday I purchased a Certified used Kia forte ex 2013 with 10,000 miles on it, I am wondering what service schedule to follow and looking for some recommendations on oil.
The car has 2 service schedules as most if not all do, normal and severe. The car will be driven by my wife about 64 miles a day(32 one way) at interstate speeds of 70-75 mph, with minimal, but some stop and go when getting on/off the exits.
My first question, if I opt to go with the severe schedule is it possible for the dealer to deny warranty coverage in anyway if they deem that i should have gone by the severe schedule?(the salesman told me I could follow the normal service, but hes a salesman and wont be the one deciding if I get warranty coverage if it comes down to it)
My thoughts were as follows:
Follow the severe schedule(to cover myself on the warranty) and run the 3750 mile oil changes with either Pennzoil conventional/Pennzoil synthetic mix 5w20.
OR
To run Pennzoil platinum for the "extended" 7000 mile drain(IF this shouldn't cause a issue with warranty)
I plan on doing either of these with a OEM oil filter everytime, as it seems kia and hyundai are picky about what filters you use on your car.
Let me know your thoughts, Thanks!
