Hey guys!

I just had a new Bradley 26hp twin stander delivered and wanted to run a few questions past you because you guys are sharp.

A search shows recommendations for 15w40 in these air cooled engines and also 15w50, so my rotella 15w40 will fit that bill.

The manual recommends oil and filter change after 5 hours and I cross referenced the B&S 842921 filter it has to Baldwin: B7165, Beck/Arnley: 041-0767, 041-8078, BIG A: 92065, Bosch: 0986452058, Briggs & Stratton: 120485, 492056, 492932, 492932S, 5049, 695396, 696854, Carquest: 84035, 85065, Champion Laboratories: LF503, Coopers-Fiaam: FT4763, Crosland: 2099, Cub Cadet: 120-5008, Donaldson: P502024, Fram: PH8170, Hastings: LF503, Hatz: 50302800, Hengst: H11W01, Hifi-Filter: SO10001, John Deere: AM125424, AM125424C, AM131948, GY20577, Kawasaki: 49065-7007, Lister-Petter: 751-12870, Luber-Finer: PH3656, Magneti Marelli: 150180001500, Mann: W77, Mecafilter: ELH4090, H51, Muller: FO15, Napa: 1056, 1056MP, 7035, Purflux: LS169B, SCT: SM833, Sofima: S5100R, Tecumseh: 36563, 36961, 740057, Wix: 51056, 57035.

Which filter is best these days? lol. I can not run a longer filter bc of a length restriction.

How about the Hydro-Gear ZT-3400's which specify 20W-50 engine oil changed after 200 hours? Reading Mobil 1 15W-50 and AMSOIL 20W-50 HSTF are good choices. A plus for the Mobil 1 15W-50 is I could run it in the engine too. Hydro-Gear recommends OEM HG52114 filters, which cross references to Wix WL10102, but I question the 200 hour interval..

I'd appreciate any recommendations suggestions or warnings, as this is my first new ZT.

Thanks!

Would recommend oem hydrogear filters. They are made in china but i went through two other cheaper filter brands (stens, rotary). Both filters were less than steller. The rotary had poorly pressed louvers and the stens had a weak leaf spring and the filter media rattled and didnt seal. The oem hydrogear feels heavier and has punched holes plus a coil spring to keep the filter media in place.

This Thermometer will be your best friend, I am guessing this is a Rear Mounted Engine, run the Oil you want and after you are done mowing, use this Thermometer and see what oil temps you are getting. I am getting 230F with a mower that has the engine in the front, if you have a rear engine, it will run hotter. When you get the temperature after you are done mowing, you can look at a Calculator, I think it is called the Widman Calculator. Someone or I myself can send you a Link.

I am just kind of guessing, but a 40 Weight oil with a thickness of 10 is good to about 245F, and a 50 Weight oil is good to about 265F

Sounds good, but 200 hours is years away for my 1 acre lot.

Thanks, no its a stand on ZT with engine in front. Sounds like I better run the mobile Mobil 1 15W-50 and that the B&S 842921 is pretty decent oil filter.

Hydrogear recommends an initial oil change at 75 hours then 400 hour intervals on the Gravely/Ariens zero turn riders we sell. I can see the shorter intervals on a stander. I'd do an initial at 50 or so then the 200.
