Never underestimate just how low humans can sink..

As a Brit it saddens me. I'd like to claim that other countries have the monopoly on scum, unfortunately that is simply not true. All I can claim is that we have a better class of scum, we don't give them guns, but that fact is but a small mercy.

As for the exact word to describe these people, my vocabulary fails me.

ordinarybloke, the Jamie Bulger case ruined humanity for me for decades...they were kids, evil kids...but adults hurting children brings me undone.

It's not just your lot, us convicts have them too.

I am continually amazed that Police investigating these cases don't go all Judge Dredd

A more appropriate sanction might be to strap the perps down and harvest their organs.
Gives new meaning to the phrase "community service".

It sure is a horrible business, but doubt it is anything new. I recall in high school a chain letter that talked about passing out at parties, waking up in a bucket of ice with two tubes connected because your kidneys were removed and sold. Sure, just a chain message (maybe it did happen once?), but it emphasizes the occurrence or potential of this going back to at least the late 90's, and I'm sure long before. (Frankenstein?)

So this is a horrible embodiment of it, which just further removes faith in much of humanity, including the trafficking for parts (yuck) coming from the eastern and western third world as highlighted in the article, as well as the white salve trade which as I understand comes through Israel. It's all horrible stuff, with apparently a LOT of money behind it, and well-heeled folks in the affluent nations willing to pay.

Unfortunately we have our fellow countrymen to blame as well, because they create the market.

Gross.

'Evil' is everywhere...the power of greed and materialism often overcomes humanity.
I am a strong believer in capital punishment as a deterrent (even though some will say it isn't).

+1

Consequences are everything. If people don't do something evil because of their morals, they won't do it because of the consequences (most people). Its basic common sense. Growing up, I behaved as a kid because I knew if I didn't my dad would beat the snot out of me. I learned that behaving was much easier than facing the consequences. If kids misbehave and nothing is done, they know there will be no consequences for their actions and are free to do whatever they want.

Removing kidneys and leaving someone in a bathtub of ice.....removing all their organs and leaving them dead......I hate to tell you, but there is a lot more evil out there than that. Kira

I'm not sure I understand how this works.
Don't donors have to match the recipient ie. not just any kidney will do.?

Plus, I would imagine a transplant would've to be performed by a doctor in a surgery. Surly there are checks on where the body parts are comming from and more than a few people involved?
We are talking about a first world country here (UK)

I could imagine this sort of thing happening where the organ recipient travels overseas to get a transplant, no questions asked, But to bring the live donor to the UK seems a very risky way of doing things for all the Scumbags involved.

To me it do'sent add up.

No kidding, people have been absolutely horrible to each other since the beginning of time. We just hear about it more. But other things being worse, or things being bad for a long time, or not new doesnt change the horrid nature of the act, or mean that we should turn a blind eye.

Yes, that!

I could not have stated this better if I tried.

But unfortunately evil is everywhere and a death sentence is of little consequence to evil.

This kind of thing has been going on for a long time. Maybe you've heard the story of Burke and Hare? They were a couple of grave robbers about two hundred years ago who turned to murder to supply doctors with fresh corpses with all those lovely organs for study.

Individuals in all societies are capable of unspeakable horror. For most of us it is an abstraction. However, some are prepared to counter the deviants among us with the subtle language of violence. Most are oblivious. Which are you?
