The criminals were never going to take classes but an untrained law abiding citizen with a weapon is just as bad. It's not too keep carrying away from citizens; moreso that they receive proper training on when and how to use it. Proper training prevents piss poor performance.
I cannot remember where I heard it or I’d cite it, but paraphrasing here, “ the untrained and uneducated (in the law) will usually either do a really bad job at self defense or a really good job at committing murder.”

I like the statement because it acknowledges that the untrained can succeed but it also acknowledges that it may not play out the way one hopes in end.

The so called trained professionals aka cops murder people every day for having a smartphone in the hand or sometimes for having nothing in one’s hands at all. But they have qualified immunity, citizens don’t.

So let’s not pretend here that training solves things. It’s just another talking point to limit the 1st amendment.

I’d rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

When I saw the title of this thread, I immediately thought of California. Crime has really spiked here in the last few years. I'm glad to learn that nobody was hurt.

Making things up doesn't advance your point.

if you're in the car (this lady wasn't so it doesn't apply) you can always just run the carjacker over. just a little bit, like a foot or something.

OK. So because training doesn’t yield perfect outcomes, it should be outright ignored or marginalized?

So let’s not pretend here that training solves things. It’s just another talking point to limit the 1st amendment.
Please explain. Which one of my posts attempts to limit someone’s first or second amendment rights.

I’d rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
That’s your prerogative. You can see it that way. Doesn’t mean I have to as well.
