I've got a Volvo Penta 5.0 Gxi that requires the use of a suction device to change the oil. no problem there - I have a tempo unit and a topsider with the plastic suction tubes. but the VP has a threaded dip stick tube (garden hose threads) and it takes some type of adapter that screws on. I have been unable to locate one. any idea where to get one?

I have the same engine. Don't concern yourself with those threads. Just remove the dipstick and insert your suction tube until it hits the bottom of the oil pan. Easy deal.

actually not. the plastic tube is not long enough to get to the bottom of the dipstick tube. I've been using duct tape to create a seal - with less than stellar results.

Go to a ACE Hardware and get some nylon refrigerator ice maker water line and clamps and make a longer tube.

I went down to the hardware store and bought a garden hose end that threads onto the top of the dipstick. Then some tygon tubing that attached to the garden hose thread. The suction pump had an adapter that fit the ID of the tygon tubing. It works perfectly.
