We bought a Maytag 4.8 cubic foot washer from Costco, ended up being $600 delivered - which is upstairs for me so I needed delivery. Its very noisy and has a lot of vibration I am trying to get rid of. I ordered some high density rubber feet I am hoping help some.

In my case I would get something better. However if this thing resided on a basement slab or something, I think it would be fine.

From the information you have provided, I'd recommend a top loader (less potential for repairs) and I'd recommend staying with one of the Whirlpool brands (best parts network.) I'd also recommend keeping your choice as basic as possible.

If you want to go a tier up, look at the top end Maytag that has been mentioned on here prior that is a work horse. It is over a grand. You can adjust your budget with a less expensive dryer.

If you want to go a notch above that, look at Speed Queen. You may not like that choice because they generally are not high capacity. If you find one you like, adjust the dryer choice down as well.

I'd focus on the washer, because there generally is less to go wrong with the dryer.

If you need to hit a budget target, you may want to monitor the "Scratch and Dent" sections of your local big box stores and/or search for vendors that focus on such appliances. There are some buys to be had if you are diligent. Bought my in-laws a nice washer doing so for < $250.

Looking for a set of washer and dryer $1500 limit. Big enough to wash king size blanket and pillow. And dryer
This is what you need since it has the removable agitator for larger loads like blankets, comforters and pillows. I have a few friends that own them and they love its utility and performance. Whirlpool appliances are reliable, affordable and serviceable.

We just replaced ours a year ago or so.
What a nightmare in dealing with LOWES!! Your budget is pretty tight for something reliable that is big enough to do comforters, without watching for sales.
Stay away from front loaders, top loaders are just simply more reliable in terms of value.

If you wanna buy one for the rest of your life, go with a direct drive Speed Queen. Our sacrifice was to go with MayTag, very happy we did. We did Dryer in 2023 last year and want to do the matching washer in 2024 both during Pres. Day sales. We did it this way so that we could up our budget and stick with matching May Tag, which we did and we ended up not even reaching our original budget of $2k due to the sales. May Tag from Lowes was our best deal, respectively, and I hate to purchase from Lowes.... I can personally vouch for this line up: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Maytag-Smart-capable-7-4-cu-ft-Electric-Dryer-White/1001869778

I'm not sure of your full situation, nor is it any of my business... If you can swing Speed Queen, do one this year and one next. STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING LG or SAMSUNG! They need to stick to phones... I do believe you can do the mentioned May Tag set for right around 1,600, just got to watch for sales.

COSTCO is not an option for me, maybe it is for you. Also check SAMs club. Local appliance chops that are operated by the owner are your go to spots, here you will get the service you hoped for and more info about the mechanics of the machine. I always love walking passed the "bad transmission" pile at our LAS, just to see who has the junk of the year award!

Happy hunting, don't rely on LOWEs employees for feedback on quality, nor their delivery service to get it there in one piece!

Is the OP implying he needs a huge washer/dryer? Is it maybe better to buy a regular size and take the huge blankets/pillows to the laundromat several times a year?

Sometimes there are appliance outlets. Maybe some Craigslist deals? Good luck. $1500 doesn't buy a lot these days.

Not in your land (CA) or mine (NY). I just had to drop the coin on a washer and a dryer to replace old units. I went with Maytag off a friends advice who owns a repair company. $1800. With my 3 kids (19, 17, 13) and old lady....it gets a lot of use!

Suggest looking for a local appliance refurbishing company. We have one up here that takes in older/broken appliances, rebuild them, and then sells them cheap. Good products that have been combed over by techs and they also give a 6 month warranty.

Speed Queen has a small capacity and mine hasn't been trouble free:

check and see if you have a Menards near you, they have some decent washers and dryers for good prices.

Just wanted to share my recent purchase experience with maytag.com.

The gearbox on our 10 y/o Whirlpool washer cr**ped-out last summer, part of a W&D set that came with the house we bought in 2017.

We replaced them in August 2024 with a top-of-the-line "Extra Power" Maytag W&D set from maytag.com:

Costco, which is relatively competitive with maytag.com, was $100 more at the time.

Overall, the communication leading up to delivery was good, and the delivery service was awesome - brought in the new units without damaging anything, removed the old units, and set-up the new units without any issues.

Side note - I couldn't believe when I looked at the pricing today - $600 more than just 6 months ago.
