My wife needs a Laptop (or a Netbook with 12" screen), mainly to go on internet so that it needs wireless. Don't need super-fast CPU nor high capacity hard drive(200-300GB), no gaming is needed. I am not sure if she needs a built-in CD or DVD burner.

Looking for one in the range of $300-400, less is even better. If possible, please specify the model number and where to buy it.

TIA

Its not fancy but its a nice little unit for just surfing. May have to copy and paste the links....

For a cheap netbook...

Neither are flashy or have alot of ram. The OS on netbooks is not as good either as they either have windows XP or only Windows 7 starter.....

That Compaq is not bad, comes with wireless N for $329. Single core 2.2 celery granted, but it should work fine for your basic web and email type stuff.

Cost goes up for cd/dvd in a little 12in. WE got a HP 12in not long ago under $280 no cd/dvd. But it does have a camera. & Atom

What do you guys think about Asus K60IJ-RBLX05 ? There are 3 stores has refurbished for $449 free shipping and no tax. With Bing cash back between 8% and 10%, the final cost is about $405-415. The problem is I don't know the conditions of the refurbished, such as heavy scratches on display or light scratches on cover, and it is refurbished by who ? If it is refurbished by Asus it will be good condition.

Not a very good deal IMO. Processor is dated. Wait for one of those Dell deals that get posted on slickdeals.

Okay, I hear you.

So which is the good/current processors ? I don't think wife needs top of the line Intel I3, ... I7 processor type to go on internet, read/send emails, may be download some musics ...

Can you help looking for a good laptop/notebook by sign up for Deal Alert on slickdeals ? Then when you see a good one, post it here ?

I signed up for Deal Alert with "laptop" in "Keyword Phrase" and Target Forums is "Hot Deals". I got ton of emails and hard to screen the right one. Also, I don't know which is a good deal either.

My coworker has a similar model, (Personal use), bought new last year. I helped to pick it out. They are nice. VERY light, great screen. IIRC Asus has a 2 year warranty, so it might be still under warranty (seller should know). They are big as far as length and width (16" screen), but thin and light.
It has a separate key pad on the side like a regular key pad. Very nice.

What's the store's return policy?

Edit: it does have an older processor.

I got a 15.6 inch ASUS with win7 64bit and love it from Newegg. It was on a daily deal for $399. I do like the ASUS unit. (I do HATE the speakers, very faint.. I've only owned Dells up to this and they are 1000% better. My wifes Acer netbook blows the ASUS away for speakers (and battery life) But other than that I love the unit..

But its too big for what the OP is looking for. I'll have to check out this one you listed. I'd like a project 12" laptop.

I'm sorry for confusing about what I was looking for. I was looking for a regular size 15-16" laptop or a notebook/netbook of at least 12", I don't like the tiny 10" netbook.

The MSI A6000-225 seems like the right size, wife and kids are experiencing with the new toys. They're trying the webcam feature and trying to download Firefox ... The next step is copying the files from the old laptop.

revonate.com has some refurbd gateways and others for $250ish. (of course not today-- keep watching; hope for new stock once past the holiday weekend).

Talking about fan noise, I didn't pay attention to the fan noise from 2 of my Dell laptops, I thought that all laptops have noisy fan and there is nothing can be done.

The MSI A6000-225 is so quiet, I could not hear anything while it's running next to either Dell I have. I paid $399 + tax + $16 CA green waste.

I did read them. Only 3 reviews. Hardly seems representative.

I was hoping someone here had more info to share. I guess when I am going for cheap, I can't be too picky.. I'm nearly deaf in my right ear, wonder If I would notice.
