Seems my oil tank ran dry and the pump probably lost its prime.

Controller indicates "hard lock out" but a reset isn't firing the burner off, just some whirring and then after 15 seconds or so, another hard lock out.

It appears I need to open a bleeder valve when the pump is running to purge any air, I see the purge outlet (the nipple that allows a hose to be attached) but I dont know where the bleeder valve is.

Any assistance is appreciated.

the little nipple for the hose is the bleeder valve, its like a brake bleeder valve. loosen it then attach your hose fire it up and spin the hose a little bit and it should soon let air out then some fuel. I have the same burner for my pressure washer setup.

If you don't get oil coming out after at max two lockout cycles the filter may have gotten clogged when you ran the tank dry.

Aby and meangreen, you guys rock. I am back and running and it took me 5 minutes.

Many thanks to you both for saving me some $$$.

Awesome! im glad you got it going. Its -12 celsius here and it would be darn cold if our heat wasnt going. I see you dont have a pressure guage for the fuel. I have one on mine and it helps when the pump dies so you dont have to throw parts at it. it totally is a money saving device.

Have had a few 0C nights and my house is old. Probably about 7 or 8C in the house in the morning.

Regarding a pressure gauge, where would that be installed?

Also what is that recessed adjustment screw directly above the circled area (to the right of the large brass fitting)

Thanks.
