im new here guys! well ive been running Mobil 1 10w30 in my 95 trans am ,and want to switch to Mobil 1 10w40 in the summer, the thing is the only 10w 40 in Mobil 1 is highmileage, and my engine is rebuilt with about 10k miles (no oil leaks)so will the highmileage stuff be ok? or should i just stick to Mobil 1 10w30?

high mileage oil is meant for use in old, tired engine with all kinds of seal leaks problem and larger than spec. bearing clearance issues (slightly thicker oil, etc.).

If your engine has been recently rebuilt with quality components and everything is put into spec, there is absolutely no need to go with high mileage motor oil. go with what your heart's desire.

If you have your mind set on a XXw40, have you considered Rotella 5w40? Might save you a few bucks over Mobil 1.

Having said that, i suspect that engine would be just fine on 5w30 or 10w30 year-round, conventional or synthetic.
