Need advice on enclosed trailer purchase

Hey everyone,

We are involved with a group called Ainsley’s Angels that includes disabled participants in endurance events. Teams consist of an Angel Athlete-Rider and one or more Angel Runners pushing the rider. A new chapter is forming in our area, and needs a utility trailer in which to store and transport the racing chairs.

I'm trying to get an idea of what to look for in a trailer. I'm thinking for now we will probably have around 8 rider chairs to transport to events plus various other items like water coolers and tables. I'm thinking for now we could get by with a 6x12. I have been looking at trailers and not sure what to look for.

I would think a V nose would be good for pulling purposes, single axle since the weight of the chairs isn't all that heavy, or would a tandem axle be better?

Also want the rear door to be a pull down and have a side access door as well. Any help would be appreciated. Below is a link to the main Ainsley's Angels page.

If I was to buy a new one, it would be an aluminum V-nose-much lighter, much less weight (which means higher payload capacity), & much fewer rust/corrosion issues. Something like this-

A tandem axle is easier to tow, & can carry a lot more, if your tow vehicle can handle it.

Right now, I will be pulling it with my 2002 Silverado 1500 extended cab. In time as our chapter grows then a larger trailer will be needed I'm sure and then I hopefully will be upgrading my truck to pull said larger trailer.

Check out nhtrailers.com it will be a bit of a drive to pick it up but they will custom make anything you need. I made the 1000 mile one way drive from Indy to pick up my car hauler. In the end I couldn't beat the price or convenience to get exactly what I needed. If nothing else you can give them a call and they will walk you through what will work best for you.

How much are you looking to spend? If it's in the budget a toy hauler would work well and could also carry water,food ,shower etc

Most of the events will be local, within a 200 mile radius. So not looking to get something expensive. Just a trailer to hall the chairs in and a few extra things. AA is a nonprofit organization. All funds raised go back into up keep of current chairs,equipment and purchasing new ones.
