I think I would have to give to nod to Ruger in the .380 category. Their other semi-auto handguns are very well built, reliable, and extremely inexpensive for their performance. I haven't shot the LCP, but Ruger does handguns very well.

Have you decided on an auto? What about a hyperlight .38 S&W? +P+ capable, 5 shot, hammerless. We carried them as back up weapons in ankle holsters and you would barely notice it there.

Great option wantin150. An airlight S&W .357 (360pd perhaps) loaded with Buffalobore's new tactical low flash rounds (made specifically for snubbies) would be the lightest/smallest option, and very effective. The Buffalobore rounds still get over 1,000 ft/sec and over 400 ft. lbs of muzzle energy in a round that's not as loud, has little to no muzzle flash, and a much softer recoil. Ballistics testing is awesome - potentially the best ultra compact carry combination.

They are nice guns but cost mucho dinero.

Let's make it easy and just go with a Glock G27 in .40. That'd be a very nice carry weapon.

One thing I noticed about the G27 vs the G23 is that it's only 2 ozs lighter yet still the same width/thickness.

I have the 11 oz S&W and it is model 340PD. It is a dream to carry and it is nice knowing that you have .357 power with you. However, I would much rather shoot my S&W 500 Magnum than this puppy. With the Federal 125 gr hollowpoints (357b) the recoil is stout. It is like having ARod whack the palm of your hand with a bat every time you pull the trigger. I have found it useful to practice with, after regular practice I can shoot anything without flinching.

I carry a Rossi 877, stainless, snubnose, 357 mag. It holds 6 rounds and I paid under $200 for it new in the mid-nineties.

Thats what I'd have if I could afford it. The .50 or the .46. She's a beaut.
