Their oil is indeed subjected to harsh conditions, but for all of 2-3 hours. Then the motor gets torn down and rebuilt. Their use case is way different from mine.


AFAIK NASCAR engines are sold/scrapped after they are raced, I don't think even the block is reused... Surely no moving parts as 9500+ RPM stresses the rods, crank, etc till failure is almost imminent... The builders know how to cut weight in the reciprocating assembly for the engines to last a given period, a engine built for a 300 miler is setup much differently than one for a 500 or 600mi race..
