NASA readies Artemis II for a manned launch

The service module has just been separated from the capsule.
The rest should be pretty routine.
It's not as though heat shields have not been well proven over decades.

This is as bad as Baba Wawa narrating the OJ Simpson chase!

"I didn't know green meant healthy, yuk yuk yuk."
“I hate to talk over the NASA communications”

Oh, you mean like you’ve been doing THE ENTIRE FRIGGIN TIME, DAVID?!

There were some issues with the heat shield on Artemis 1 - so, they changed the entry on Artemis 2. From skip to direct entry. Heat Shield will be redesigned for Artemis 3.

This is an excellent video showing the complete reentry, all the way to splashdown. With all the speed, altitude, and G load telemetry in real time. You can see how incredibly fast they're traveling, (7 miles per second), when they hit the upper atmosphere at 400,000 feet, and the plasma starts streaming off the heat shield.

People are starting to comb through the mass of photos from the mission and there are some truly amazing things to be seen.

Hank Green does a little explaining of what you're looking at.
