NASA sent a video from 19 million miles out in deep space using a laser beam…

And it’s a cat video…

No, the cat was not on the spacecraft, it was recorded earlier, before launch, and saved in the crafts memory…

Video of a cat named Taters in deep space is being called a NASA milestone: What to know

A guy with "cats" in his name posting videos of... cats, go figure. :ROFLMAO:

101 seconds flight time. Crazy to think about. Then again, the Voyagers take longer, so there's that.

When the spacecraft reaches the asteroid Psyche, any electromagnetic signal (X-band RF, laser, whatever) will take a half hour to be received.

The advantage of the DSOC optical system is that more data per second can be sent, about 300Megabits/sec, that is, a wider communications bandwidth can be accommodated.

"Psyches' main mission is to measure the asteroid's magnetic field using a magnetometer. This instrument is composed of two identical high-sensitivity magnetic field sensors located at the middle and outer end of a 6-foot (2-meter) boom on the spacecraft." NASA

The results of the magnetometer will be used to determine the metallic content and composition of the asteroid.
