Napa Proselect by pass valve

I picked up four Proselect 21516 filters today. Two of them have the bypass valve at the base like all Wix filters but the other two have the bypass at the top. Is Napa changing the design of the Proselect filters?

Sometimes, due to whatever reason, manufacturers use a different type of component that meet or exceed specs. In the case of the bypass valve, most likley the equipment that produces the correct version was down for maintenance, so the upfront valve construction was substituted.

Yes, they are going with the combo valve that is seen in STP filters. See glenncof's post -
